Concordia University
Effective July 1 2006, Concordia University will serve as
the designated sponsor for Higher Ground Academy. Charter
schools are required to have an outside sponsor whose
primary role is to participate in the development, oversight
and stability of the school. Concordia appoints a university
liaison to work with the Academy’s Board of Directors and
executive staff.
Umoja Gathering Place
Umoja Gathering Place is a community based Organization
developed to assist first generation college bound students
gain access to higher education institutions through the
Higher Education Entrance Learning Preparation Program.
Umoja will specifically assists Higher Ground Academy
students in identifying and securing college scholarships
and also coordinates career exploration opportunities with
students.
Admission Possible
Admission Possible strives to help make college Admission
possible for talented, motivated and economically
disadvantaged students by providing ACT test preparation
services and admission and financial aid consulting.
Admission possible is staffed primarily by AmeriCorps and
Vista members who meet regularly throughout the school year
with high school juniors and seniors to involve them in the
step-by-step process for completing college admission
requirements.
Minnesota Thunder Plus
Minnesota Thunder Plus is a community based organization
committed to developing youth soccer and engaging
economically disadvantaged communities through interactive
soccer. Thunder Plus coaches 3rd and 4th
grade Academy students in the fundamentals of soccer and
uses soccer as common ground for building cultural bridges. |
