Service Learning is an integral part of
Higher Ground Academy’s philosophy of learning. We believe
that the best evidence of learning can be found in the
“doing”. Our 2006-2007 service learning goal is to enroll
100 middle and high school students in a year-long credited
service learning course that engages older students as
tutors of younger students in the core areas of mathematics,
language arts and Arabic.
In addition to tutoring, students will
plan a year-end Academic Olympics Project which will give
the younger students an opportunity to demonstrate their
academic achievements.
