                          Volunteer How?

As a tutor in the Title I program
Training is provided to volunteers who work as tutors and coaches in the areas of reading, mathematics and skills using computer enhanced instruction.

 Supporting the soccer program
Soccer is emerging as a top sport at Higher Ground Academy. We need volunteers to provide transportation for team members and the donations of equipment and funds. As a volunteer you will meet some fine young people and see some excellent soccer being played.

As a career exploration guide
Many students lack exposure to different careers opportunities that they could possibly pursue upon completion of college. Career professionals and college students are encouraged to volunteer as a career resource persons and share information with small groups of college bound students about the field in which you work.

As a fieldtrip chaperon
Higher Ground Academy teachers are encouraged to involve students monthly in educationally relevant field trips. Volunteer chaperons assist teachers in conducting the field trips and help in maintaining student safety.

Cultural and ethnic events
Our community is composed of many different cultural and ethnic groups from the African diaspora. We invite volunteers to share their unique culture with students in classroom and assemblies.
